Leo Bates Biography

Leo Bates, American (1944 - )

Leo Bates was born in Pittsburgh Pa., 1944. He studed at the Carnegie Mellon Universty. Pittsburgh. 1962 - 1966 and graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting. He was a special student at Yale Universty Summer SchooL, Norfolk, Conn. 1965 in 1968 he moved to New York City where The now paints. In 1974 he received a grant for painting through the New York Slate
Council on the Arts, Creative Artists Public Service Program. Bates is one of the most interesting young Amerqcan artists working in New York today.
