Emil Baumann, American

Emil Baumann began his art career at Prints in Progress at the CEO and continued studying at the University City Arts League. In addition to these influences, Emil’s work also reflects his travels with his parents, Betty and Bill Baumann, in the United States, Mexico, Turkey, Africa, and Eastem Europe. Emil was particularly influenced by the three years that his family lived in Kenya. During his travels, Emil participated in numerous traditional and religious ceremonies; he also formed friendships with artists from many continents. According to exhibit curator Robert Bullock, “Emil’s rich and sensually appealing non-representational art comes from deep within and serves as a primary form of expression.”
