Brought up in an orphanage At 17 he volunteered for the US Army for WWII and went through infantry basic training and was shipped overseas. He also was a volunteer for the paratroopers, and went to jump school in Europe and made 18 jumps. After the war Benach returned to the states and returned to work in the meat business.
Married at 22 and had two children and four granddaughters which now has led to 10 great-grandchildren. Robert Benach retired around 2010 and has a few hobbies including art, golf and tennis. In 2013 he began painting after an art teacher came by a local clubhouse for a group of lessons.
He always had the dream to be an artist but was too busy with family life and work. Benach loved the art lessons and hasn’t stopped painting since. Inspired by Grandma Moses starting to paint later in life Robert Benach feels a renewed energy with his painting and is very proud of his works thus far.
