| Ben
Benson (1927-2002)
Ben Benson worked for ten years as a writer, editor, and photographer
before pursuing a career in art. While he drew and painted for
most of his life, it was not until 1964, after seeing an exhibition
of the work of German painter, Julius Bissier that Benson began
to paint seriously. Benson was a self-taught artist with an
intimate, delicate and small style, working primarily on paper
with watercolor and ink. Wisconsin born, Benson lived in Evanston,
Illinois from the time of his graduation from Northwestern University
in 1954.
