| Dan
Bodelson (1949 - )
 |
Dan Bodelson, a young Santa Fe artist with
a strong background in illustration, has
turned his talents toward capturing the life
and land of the Southwest in his paintings.
Bodelson contrasts the quiet stillness of an
ochre landscape with the action of the
cowboy's life or the pensiveness of an Indian trapping game.
With a sensitive eye and an adept handling of paint, he
preserves a moment in time for study and
reflection.
Bodelson was born in Minnesota in 1949
and earned his BFA from the California College of Arts and
Crafts in Oakland. He has
resided in Santa Fe since 1966. Bodelson
has won many awards, both locally and nationally, including
the Governor's Award at
the 1976 New Mexico State Fair and a
special award at the 144th Art League
Show in New York. His work is included in
numerous fine collections throughout the
United States.
Dan Bodelson's paintings are an important
documentation of the West and a beautiful statement of his
feeling for the land here.
