Wendy Chazin, American

Wendy Chazin
Wendy Chazin lives and works in New York City.  She was  graduated from The Boston University  School  of Fine and Applied Arts and  The School of Visual Art in New York, and later  studied and painted in Provence.  Her   fascination with the South of France inspired in her work a style  suggestive of Matisse and the contemporary French artists who followed him.

During one of her shows in France , a visionary  Japanese agent invited her to join Editions Vision Nouvelles, (a  group of famous French and Japanese artists),  thus opening up an international market for her lasting through the early 90’s. Chazin now sells throughout the USA

ARTIST TECHNIQUE

After painting with oils for a few years, I changed to acrylics  because I found the oils too slow and deadening to my creativity-- whether  for still-life, interiors or landscapes. I 've   conntinued  ever since , more than 30 years.

I developed  a technique that   gives  the canvas a richness and texture  not always associated with acrylics. What I use does not come from  a bottle but   from my own  process  to treat the canvas itself--  large or small.  Clients have referred to the work as "sculptural" in its feeling  because of the ultimate effect.  Regarding  my subject matter,  often the objects I incororate in my  paintings are ones that have been stored in my mind rather than arranged  in a room or on a table before me to copy.
