Charles Warren Eaton was known primarily as a watercolorist whose specialty was landscapes. He studied at the Arts Students League and at the National Academy of Design in New York City. In the 1880's Eaton traveled through Europe, and upon his return to the United States befriended the American artist George Inness, who had a profound impact on Eaton's style and work. In Eaton's mature years, he painted scenes mostly of Bruges, Belgium and Lake Como in Italy.
