Rene Genis was born in Hue, Vietnam. His family moved to their native Bordeaux, France in 1931. He is known for his landscapes and still lifes, his fauvist use of color, and strong compositions. One of his paintings has an old label from Gallerie Carpenier in Paris and is stamped from Wally Findlay Gallery in New York where it was apparently purchased in 1992.
