Andreas Antis Ioannides was born in Nicosia, Cyprus in 1939. It is indeed surprising to learn that such a versatile artist has never had any formal art education. It was not until 1957 that his first work frist came to public notice in a group exhibition of paintings. Since then he has illustrated books and magazines and has designed posters and scenery for stage and television.
He has worked for the professional cinema as an art director, camera man and film editor which earned him several awards and has also written and directed a number of short films. His long list of accomplishments include photography and graphic design, for which in 1980, he was honoured with a gold medal for ecellence in this field. Surprisingly, he is literary as well, ince he is also a poet, having had his owrk included in an anthology of Cypriot poetry. In Antis Ioannides we are dealing with an artist whose works have been exhibited in numerous private and group shows and has represented Cyprus in major international art exhibitions.
