Viatcheslav Kalanin, Russian (1939 - )

Viatcheslav Kalinin was born in Moscow in 1939. He began to paint in 1956, his first exhibition was in 1962. His first love had been the work of Picasso, Kandinsky, the German Expressionists and other early 20th century artists. By the mid-1970s the work of Kalinin and others had grown increasingly well known internationally.
1980, Kalinin mades his first trip to the United States for a one-man show at a prestigious New York Gallery. Since then, the work of Viatcheslav Kalinin has gone far. Residing in private collections throughout the world, his unique visions also grace such venues as the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern art, in New York City. Recently, he has taken up residence in Southern California, where his oeuvre of inspiration continues to grow, as does his reputation. He exhibited in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, French, United Kingdom and the USA.
