laventhol (1927 - 2001)
Hank laventhol was a painter and
printmaker born in Philadelphia PA on December 22, 1927. He
studied studio art as Yale University with Robert Georges Everhard
and Received a BA in Sculpture. He Also studied art at the academy
Belli Arti in Florence Italy.
Hank Laventhol Created a varied body of work
during his lifetime. After 1961, Laventhol Solely committed himself
to his art, sampling and experimenting with new media as well
as subject matter. Laventhol owned and used a hand operated printing
press, and personally printed his original limited edition prints.
He was commissioned to print and publish several
individually had-pulled etchings for the following print distributors:
Island Mists (five-color
Lithograph), 1969 & Image du Rose (etching), 72 association
of American Artist, NYC; Deer Park (color etching), New York Graphic
Society, Greenwich, CT, 1970, Ruth (four-color etching), Commentary
Bank Society, New York, 1971, seven color etchings, George Visat,
Paris France, 1972.
In the 1960's an 1970's Laventhol's Art was exhibited at the following:
Salon de Otono, Palma
de Mallorca, 1963-65; Festival Cult, Pollensa, Mallorca,
1964; PMA, 1968; Print Club of Philadelphia, 1969; Westchester
Art Society, 1972; Bodley
Gallery, NYC, 1970's.
Laventhol's work is included in the following collections:
