Raúl Óscar Martínez (Monterrey, 1941). He is a plastic artist and architect from the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon. He attended workshops at San Jorge School in Barcelona (1977), and at the School of Arts and Crafts of this same city (1981 – 1982). Throughout the thirty years of his artistic career, he has developed a serious and propositional visual language.
The human figure is always present in his works where he includes characters who emerge from a stain; that is to say, from color, from the abyss, who function as a reflection of an imaginary society, and as clues of a dialogue that is not heard but can be inferred. Thus, that which comes about between the visible and the invisible, between that which is hidden or shown, constitutes one of the main excuses for his pictorial work.
