Masi (Italian, 1949 - )
A contemporary Italian printmaker and painter, Oliviero Masi
began exhibiting his art in Europe in 1967. Since that time his
prints and paintings have been the subject of exhibitions in
New York, Paris, London, Hong Kong, Toronto, Australia and Capetown,
South Africa. Masi currently lives and works in both Milan and
London.
A number of Masi's original etchings (including Painted Desert) have been commissioned
by the New York publisher, John Szoke Graphics. Like most of Masi's graphic art,
Painted Desert is created in the 'Vernice Molle' technique, which is akin to
soft ground etching. This medium permits a wide variety of textural qualities,
which Masi skillfully utilizes in his fine, landscape art.
