Peter Mayer (1954 - )

Peter Mayer, a.k.a. the Dog Man of Soho. This artist achieved worldwide fame for his depictions of dogs on the streets of New York City. Decievingly simple, these dogs offer an infinite platform for color experimentation. They are an icon of modern contemporary art. Mayer began painting these dogs back in the eighties. Things were tough in new york city and he said he painted them bacause he liked the smiles they put on peoples faces.
