Gastone Primon, Italian

The surname Primon is linked to Veneto ceramic tradition since in the first half of the 19th century, Francesco Primon was considered one of the most skilful ceramic decorators in the Nove workshop. Gastone Primon's pieces break with the past: they are tormented and enigmatic forms, torn with slashes, scraped off and cracked, put together and modelled again.

A constant research into materials and techniques and a deep love for matter lead the craft artist to experiment with forms and colours in order to find ever-new aesthetical solutions. Among his ancestors Francesco Primon was the author of a very fine series of the months and seasons, and his sons Olinto and Demetrio are well-known for still lives like "a couple of lemons and a fig", "a melon and a water-melon", etc
