Roland Partos, Romanian (1929 - )

Born in Timisoara, Rumania, in 1929. married to his wife Helen since 1959. Roland started to paint in his early twentites. Today, he is a professional with 23 years of experience. Roland came to the U.S. in 1964, speaks fluently five languages, plays chess as a hobby, loves hiking and symphonic baroque music. Among the great masters hi favorite is undoubtedly Alessandro Magnasco (1667 - 1749), the creator of the "al taco" technique which the artist has adapted and modified to suit his needs.

His work is characterized by a strong, almost monochromatic color intensity achieved by soft tonal gradations. Always present, the fine chiaroscuro effect imparts a feeling of mystery which enhances the tri-demensional effect. Certain critics appreciate the oriental touch present in all his work. The subject matter ranges from informal groups of musicians, floral compositions, to landscapes of American specific.
