Today, he is a professional with 23 years of experience. Roland
came to the U.S. in 1964, speaks fluently five languages, plays
chess as a hobby, loves hiking and symphonic baroque music. Among
the great masters hi favorite is undoubtedly Alessandro Magnasco
(1667 - 1749), the creator of the "al taco" technique
which the artist has adapted and modified to suit his needs.
His work is characterized
by a strong, almost monochromatic color intensity achieved by
soft tonal gradations. Always present, the fine chiaroscuro effect
imparts a feeling of mystery which enhances the tri-demensional
effect. Certain critics appreciate the oriental touch present
in all his work. The subject matter ranges from informal groups
of musicians, floral compositions, to landscapes of American specific.
