| Richard Bernstein, American (1939 -2002)
Few artists have fared well in both the esthetic
and commercial art scene; Richard Bernstein is one. As an oil
painter and illustrator, he portrays simple shapes and forms
with infinite beauty. As a "chronicler of his times,"
his portraits of Salvador Dali, Ryan O'Neal and Racquel Welch
exemplify the 'pop' genre.
Born in New York in 1939, Bernstein
studied at Pratt Institute and Columbia University. He has the
singular honor of doing the cover art for Andy Warhol's Interview
magazine where he has created an unmistakeably identifiable
style that is instantly recognizable as the "Bernstein
Look."
