Artist: Marc Chagall
Title: The Magician of Paris
Year: 1970
Medium: Lithograph Poster
Paper Size: 28 x 20 inches
Price: $1500
Lithographic reproduction executed by Charles Sorlier from a large
original print, "The Magician of Paris", 1970 because of
its success, this poster was reprinted during the course of the exhibition.
Since the stones used for the first printing had become worn, it was
necessary to redo the engraving, a fact which explains the slight
differences between the two paintings.
The first printing was 6000 proofs.
The second printing of 3500 proofs can be identified by the two black
dots under the name Ch. Sorlier Grav. Lith.
Several proofs on Arches vellum measuring 64.5 cm X 46.5 cm. (26"
X 19 1/2") were reserved for the artist. These proofs do not
contain the last two lines of the text at the bottom of the poster.
