"The power of an enduring symbol
lies in it's ability to have pliancy in the face of inevitable
change. Historically, the Statue of lIberty has symbolized a
kinship between two countries, she has been a sign of hope and
protection to immigrants and more recently, she has stood for
the strength and power this country has attained. The time of
her centennial is one to explore new meanings for the Statue
of Liberty. The old ones seem too simple for this complex moment
in history. It is with these notions and questions that i made
this image."
