O'Connell
Jill O'Connell is an artist of a sound traditional
stamp. She has seriously dedicated herself to rendering a commonplace
object in nature.
Ms. O'Connell explores and states the complexity and richness
we have all discovered in ordinary natural forms. Her work recalls
mindless or contemplative moments at the seashore when we have
leisurely looked and have marveled at unexpectedly beautiful
color harmonies and smooth surprising forms.
The colors are muted and reassuring. The range of Ms. O'Connell's
palette of purples, grays and browns is remarkable given the
difficulties of working in pastel.
Ms. O'Connell has a respect for nature and a care and commitment
for the things she renders. Her manner is disciplined and quiet.
Her images are like her shells, look carefully and you will
be richly rewarded.
