    "Having grown up in Chicago and never having the Statue of liberty as a child, the Statue occupied a rather remote place in my mind. Finally when i did see her I was impressed and moved by how beautiful and big and green she actually was. Now after working her into a world of paper, paint, and cut-outs, she has been reduced and flattened, torn, retouched, and put back together again, but somehow her image remains strong."
