The paintings of Chicago-based artist Thomas Van Housen are a hybrid of computer-generated images, words and oil and acrylic paint. Often done in a series, he develops his themes through several paintings. For instance, a series that incorporates images of bees, the letter B and hexagons. These three items are portrayed differently in each painting, but are all connected by that theme.
