Urs Fischer, Swiss (1973 - )
Urs Fischer (born 1973) is a Swiss contemporary artist living in New York.
Fischer’s installations and sculptures have been exhibited in some group exhibitions and biennales worldwide, including Manifesta 3 and the Venice Biennale. In 2010, Urs Fischer decides to participate in the Biennial of the Whitney Museum through a daily prayer and maintaining the physical distance from the museum. The daily prayer was aimed to unhinge the format of the biennial and to realize something meaningfull about the history of the United States and West in general. Only later, the artist has tried to find a trace of its action controlling the images that were posted on the Internet during the period of the Whitney Biennial.
