about Peace IV

Contemplate this powerful hand-signed Conceptual Art lithograph by Komar and Melamid that layers nude figures with the portrait of Leo Tolstoy in a thought-provoking exploration of art, literature, and human nature.

This striking print exemplifies the Conceptual Art and Nude Art movements through its innovative use of overlay techniques and symbolic imagery that challenges traditional portraiture conventions. The artists’ distinctive collaborative approach creates a complex visual dialogue between the literary icon and figurative elements, inviting viewers to consider themes of creativity, mortality, and artistic legacy. A significant example of Soviet-American Conceptual Art that demonstrates Komar and Melamid’s intellectual rigor and fearless approach to cultural commentary, perfect for serious collectors of contemporary conceptual prints and portrait art.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
