Pablo Picasso’s "Visage en gros relief" (Face in High Relief) is an original clay sculpture that shows off the artist’s signature Cubist style.
This charming image of an orange face with stark white features is surrounded by a halo of black glaze along the lip of the plate, as well as more white-glazed details. Galerie Madoura in France was both the publisher of this edition of plates as well as the foundry for them. They are known for being the manufacturers of many Picasso ceramic editions. The reference number for this piece is A.R. 408 illustrated in "Picasso: Catalogue of the edited ceramic works 1947-1971" with text by Alain Ramie, published by Galerie Madoura 1988.
