About The Artist: Salvo (aka Salvatore Mangione)

He was born in Leonforte in the province of Enna on May 22, 1947. He spent his childhood in Sicily and in 1956 the family emigrated to Turin where he showed an early interest in art. At the age of sixteen he participated in the 121st Exposition of the Promoter of Fine Arts society with a Leonardo style drawing, depicting an old man’s head. About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
