about Kris Dancer, Bali

Witness the dramatic intensity of Balinese ritual with this powerful American Art lithograph by Al Hirschfeld depicting a Keris dancer in trance-like performance.

This mesmerizing Caricatures print exemplifies Hirschfeld’s celebration of American Art and sacred dance traditions, capturing the spiritual possession and dramatic movements of this ceremonial dance featuring the sacred Balinese dagger with his signature expressive linework. The artist’s dynamic composition honors the Keris dance’s role in Balinese religious ceremonies, where dancers enter altered states and perform feats of strength and endurance. A compelling addition for collectors of American Art and Caricatures seeking prints that explore the intersection of dance, spirituality, and cultural ritual.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
