About The Artist: Barbara Kwasniewska

Barbara Kwasniewska a Polish artist who lives and works in Paris. Created large colourful carborundum etchings in the 70's. Barbabra Kwasniewska was born in 1931 in Varsovia, Poland. She studied painting at the Beaux-Arts Institute of Cracow, Poland. She then moved to Paris where she was married in 1958. Her printmaking studies were under Johnny Friedlaender at his atelier. About The Medium: Aquatint

An etching process in which tone is created by treating a plate with fine particles of acid resistant material (like powder resin) and then placing the plate in an acid bath. The acid bites into the plate between the grains of resin and when printed, the mass of tiny spots produces a textured area with tonal effects similar to watercolor wash.
