About The Artist: Benita Sanders

Benita Sanders is a master printmaker, painter and pastelist who has lived on the Queen Charlotte Islands, now Haida Gwaii, for almost 40 years. From a first visit and solo kayak trip to the islands in the 60’s Benita has been captivated by the landscape of the north coast and in her work has captured its unique forms, contours, colours and light. About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
