About The Artist: Biff Elrod

Biff Elrod was born in Fort Worth, Texas the 21st of April 1946. He grew up in Texas moving from Fort Worth to Arlington, Galveston and Harlingen. From 1964 to 1968 he attended the Memphis Academy of Arts in Memphis, Tennessee and received a B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in painting in 1968. He spent the two following years (1969-70) in Hawaii where he received a M.F.A. (Master of Fine Arts) in painting from the University of Hawaii in...

About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
