About The Artist: Charles Emile Carlegle

Charles Émile Carlègle was born in Aigle in the Swiss canton of Vaud. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, and then in Paris, where he lived from 1900 until his death in 1940. Carlègle began his career contributing drawings to satirical magazines, including L'Assiette au Beurre, Fantasio, and Le Rire. About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
