about Blimpie

This photorealist screenprint by Charles Ford depicts a Blimpie sandwich shop with meticulous attention to signage, storefront details, and American fast-food culture.

Ford’s work in the photorealism movement captures roadside restaurants and commercial establishments through precise rendering of typography, architectural elements, and the nostalgic charm of neighborhood eateries. The print demonstrates the artist’s ability to transform everyday retail facades into compelling fine art that celebrates American dining culture and the visual landscape of local businesses.

About The Medium: Screenprint

A stencil process employing a frame on which silk or synthetic fabric is stretched. Stencils are hand-drawn or hand-cut and placed on the stretched fabric and act as a block out when the ink passes through the screen by means of a squeegee onto the paper, the non-stencil areas create the image. Also known as silkscreen or serigraph.
