about Rue de Castiglione

Either pushing carts, riding in horse-drawn carriages, or carrying their goods in their hands, the Parisians shown in this print by Claude Tabet partake in a variety of activities emblematic of the diverse roles within society.

Holding baskets of flowers, painting at an easel, or pushing baby carriages, the people are rendered in a playful manner.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
