Dan Bodelson's rendering of several cowboys on horseback conversing in an enclosed outdoor space seems like an authentic depiction of social interaction among cowboys in the American West.

Leaning over each of their horses, the two cowboys engaged in conversation shake hands while the third watches. A small donkey beside the group engages with one of the man's horses by lowering its head.

Dan spent his childhood growing up in Colorado and New Mexico. Dan was born in Minnesota in 1949. After graduating from high school in Santa Fe, NM, Dan went to California to pursue his studies in art at California College of the Arts in San Francisco/Oakland, where he graduated with a BFA in 1972. About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
