about Geometric Still Life

Watercolorist Harold Wallerstein combines still life and geometric abstraction in this original work from the early 1990s.

The geometric lines are behind the opaque objects while still maintaining a sense of realism in the still life at the center. Wallerstein emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1936. His artwork is influenced by Edwin Dickinson - a painting instructor, Ben-Zion, and Gwathmy and his international travels.

About The Artist: Harold Wallerstein

Harold Wallerstein emigrated from Germany to the United States in 1936. He Attended Richmond Hill high School, Queens NY and won a scholarship to Hope Union to study and design. He worked at Modell's and other stores in their advertising departments. Wallerstein graduated cum laude from City College with a degree in Art History and was a Phi Beta Kappa.
