About The Artist: Heribert J. Losert

Heribert J. Losert (born July 11, 1913 in Neunkirchen (Lower Austria), † April 11, 2002 in Wörth on the Danube) was a German painter and graphic artist. Losert's family moved in 1923 to Troppau (Silesia). At the age of 15, Heribert Losert received the first drawing lessons from the painter Silberschütz. About The Medium: Woodblock

Is a technique for printing text, images or patterns used widely throughout East Asia and originating in China in antiquity as a method of printing on textiles and later paper. Ukiyo-e is the best-known type of Japanese woodblock art print. An earlier term for a woodcut, usually on larger, rougher pieces of wood.
