Hugo Wetli (born 20 March 1916 in Berne, 23 August 1972) was a Swiss painter, graphic artist, lithographer, draftsman and illustrator. Hugo Wetli first graduated as a draftsman in Bern before completing his education as a graphic artist in Bern and Geneva. He was employed as a draftsman in a Bern animation film, worked thereafter for the house magazine of a Geneva industrial company, and finally changed the head of the graphic workshop of an Oltner men's clothing company in 1949-1956. In 1956, he opened his own studio and had the airline Swissair as main contractor. He also illustrated numerous travel books. Wetli began to paint in the 1950s and since then has increasingly turned to painting. He was recognized as a major Swiss landscape painter, but he also left behind figurative paintings and cityscapes. In 1960, together with Hans Erni, Alfred Pauletto, Celestino Piatti and Kurt Wirth, he produced an exhibition on the topic of graphic artist as a painter. In 1964 he was appointed for the design of the chemical pavilion of the national expo.
