About the artist:

Jorge Dumas was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1928. He first came to the United States in 1960 to collaborate with Carlos PAez in the design and execution of the mural for the Pan American Union Building in Washington, D.C. Dumas' works have been exhibited throughout the United States and South America. He received first prize in the National Salon of Buenos Aires. His paintings were chosen to represent Uruguay at the show that opened the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires. Dumas has taught painting and drawing at the Fine Arts Academy in Salta, Argentina. 1944Studied drawing and painting at "Taller Torres Garcia". 1946First show of drawings together with the Hungarian sculptor Anthony Khun, Sao Paolo, Brazil. 1949Traveled to Argentina as set designer for the company o Modern Dances of Miryan Winslow. - Traveled to Valparaiso and Santiago de Chile. - Returned to Buenos Aires as illustrator for the newspaper " El Labraso" and designed covers for the magazine "El Hogar". 1951-1956Traveled through provinces of Argentina and Alta Gracia, Cordoba, teaching drawing to children at the public library. 1957Perspective drawing and geometry professor at the fine arts school "Tomas Cabrera" In Salta, Argentina. 1959Returned to Montevideo, Uruguay to exhibit in "Amigos Del Arte". - Traveled to United States with Carlos Paez to paint a mural at the pan American Union building in Washington D.C. 1960First show in the United States at Georgetown University 1972 - 74Moved to FLorence, Italy. Traveled through France, Germany, Belgium, Holland & Switzerland 1975Returned to New York to print lithographs for circle fine arts 1979Opened own atelier in New York printing own work as well as those of Peter max, Agam, Romare Bearden, Dali, Erte, Peter Hurd, Ting, Karel Appel, Corneille, Vasarely, Omar Rayo, Sznajderman, Alpuy, Bonevardi, Sanin, etc. 1980Showed in Los Angeles and Chicago 1981Showed in Washington D.C. 1982Invited to the " Il Biennial Del Grabado De America" in Maracaibo, Venezuela - Show in Cincinnati, Ohio 1983Exhibited at Interart '83 - Exhibited at Vi Bienal Latin American Printmaking, San Juan, Puerto Rico 1984Exhibited in Latin American Graphic Arts Biennial, Cayman Gallery, New York - Exhibited at Museo de Contemporary Arts, Caracas, Venezuela 1985Exhibited at Nora Galleries, Great Neck, New York PERMANET COLLECTIONS WITH THE A.G.P.A.
