About The Artist: Karl Schrag

FROM ARTIST SUPPLIED VITAE: 1912 in Karlsruhe, Germany. His father was German and his mother American. Graduated from Humanistisches Gymnasium in 1930, and immediately began to study art, first in Geneva (his family moved to Zurich in 1931) and then in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, at the Atelier of Lucien Simon with Roger Bissiere at the Academie Ranson, and at Lan Grande Chaumiere. In 1938 he came to the U.S., studied at the Art Students...

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
