Louise McCall

American (1925–2017)

About the artist:

Louise McCall was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1925. She studied Fine Art at Oklahoma State, the University of New Mexico, the Art Institute of Chicago, and years of private study in New York. Her work is on file at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, in Washington D.C. Her paintings are in many private collections across the United States, Saudi Arabia, and England. She has two daughters, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She lives with her husband, artist Robert McCall, in Paradise Valley, Arizona. Louise McCall uses Arizona’s light as a reservoir that only touches the possibilities to capture an immediate impression of what the eye sees, rather than what the viewer knows or feels. Louise paints masterfully, using color in an energizing manner, producing beautifully constructed paintings with extraordinarily deceptive ease culminating in an unforgettable impression.
