Martin Barooshian (b. 1929) was an American master painter and printmaker. Over his 70-year career, Barooshian worked in a broad array of media and transitioned through many styles. His paintings and prints dance among many artistic movements--seamlessly combining Symbolist, Expressionist, Dadaist, Romantic, primitive, and Renaissance elements. About The Medium: Woodcut

A relief process in which the image is cut in a block of wood with tools such as knives, goughers or chisels. The image is inked with a roller, paper is applied to the surface and the back is then rubbed by hand or with a rubbing tool, transferring the image to the paper.
