about Sioux War Dance

Rendered in contrasting hues of red and blue, the heavily-ornamented costume worn by the Sioux dancer in Noel Daggett's painting appears energetic and vibrant.

Leaning to the right, the dancer's brightly-colored feathered headdress is accented by the large ornaments worn on either of his shoulders, in addition to the white fringe leather cuffs with embroidery. With a circular blue beaded neckace around his neck and red thread braided into his hair, the dancer is an emblem of the strong cultural heritage associated with the Sioux tribe.
