About the artist:

Ori Hofmekler graduated from the Bezalel Academy of Art Jerusalem and received study grants from the American Israel Cultural Foundation and from the Israel Museum. In 1975 he was awarded the Herman Struck Prize for Graphic Art. With more than 20 years experience in print media, Hofmekler’s work was featured in world wide publications including Time, Newsweek, People, Rolling Stone, Esquire, New Republic, Zeite, der Spiegel, Burda, Vogue, Playboy, Penthouse and various newspapers including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Chicago Tribune. He was a regular contributing editor for Penthouse magazine for which he has won the Art Director Club Merit Award for three successive years and the Annual Art Award in 1983 as well. His social-political satirical artwork has been reproduced in newspapers, magazines, posters, calendars, greeting cards in Europe, Japan, South Africa and Israel and in two books: Hofmekler People (published by Holt Reinhart America, New English Library in England, Elsevire in Holland, Domino Press - Keter in Israel) and Hofmekler’s Gallery (published in 1987 by Times Press New York). In 1990 he was selected as the artist to create ads for an Absolut vodka campaign. In 1993, his artwork was exhibited in The Museum of Tel Aviv.
