about Toros y Toreros 36

A Pablo Picasso lithograph from the "Toros y Toreros" book by Luis Miguel Dominquez (published 1961).

The book is an exhaustive collection of drawings documenting Picasso's obsession with Bullfighting completed in 1959. Wearing a pink riding dress with matching feathered tophat, the black-haired woman in this Pablo Picasso print looks ahead as her white horse rears up on its hind legs. Although not directly representative of the Spanish bullfighting found throughout the book "Toros y Toreros", the equestrian skill and formal attire of the woman are reminiscent of the fine outfits and skilled riding techniques of participants in bullfighting events.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates. The artist creates a lithograph by drawing an image directly onto the printing element using materials like lithograph crayons or special grease pencils. After this, the drawing is transferred from the plate to the paper in multiples. A lithograph will not have dots when examined with a magnifying glass.
