about Brumaire

Paul Wunderlich’s Brumaire showcases the German artist’s masterful interpretation of atmospheric themes through his distinctive blend of Expressionist intensity and Surrealist imagination in printmaking.

This evocative work demonstrates Wunderlich’s ability to capture the mood and character of seasonal transition, creating a figurative composition that explores the psychological resonance of natural cycles. The piece is a reimagining of a page of the French Republican Calendar, a failed attempt by the post-Revolution French to remove all references to religion and the ruling class from their timekeeping. Wunderlich often recreated paintings and prints that depict particularly eventful moments in French history.

About The Medium: Lithograph

A print created using flat stones or metal plates.
