About The Artist: Robert Ecker

Robert Rodgers Ecker was born in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania in 1936. Growing up there and also spending significant periods of time in Hagerstown with his maternal grandparents and two aunts, his childhood exposure to the fine arts came at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. About The Medium: Mezzotint

A printmaking process of the intaglio family, technically a drypoint method. It was the first tonal method to be used, enabling half-tones to be produced without using line- or dot-based techniques like hatching, cross-hatching or stipple.
