The theme of the bird man comes from antiquity, In ancient Egypt, he appeared as Horus, a god with a man's body and the head of a falcon.

[...] The bird man theme appared in Dalis oeuvre already in 1947 in, Les Perroquets toreadors. This work is in reality a rerouting of l'Antinous from the Belvedere gardens of the Vatican in Rome. Salvador Dali was born in May 11, 1904 in the small agricultural town of Figueres, Spain. Figueres is located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, only sixteen miles from the French border in the principality of Catalonia. The son of a prosperous notary, Salvador Dali spent his boyhood in Figueres and at the family's summer home in the coastal fishing village of Cadaques where his parents built his first studio.
