This is a patinaed plaster sculpture in excellent condition by the people’s sculptor Selma Burke.
It served as the model for a monumental bronze sculpture of Dr. King in Charlotte, North Carolina and includes a signature by the artist in the base. The bronze sculpture was completed in 1980 and was her last monumental work.
