about The Amazing Alma

"The Amazing Alma" is based upon a touring family circus that traveled throughout Mallorca Spain, in the Balearic Islands during the 1990s.

Alma, was the youngest daughter of the family and in her act, she was a featured contortionist. Shirley Kaplan has used this family and specifically featured Alma in many of her paintings since.

Shirley Kaplan, director, playwright and painter has worked extensively in theatre within the United States and Europe.
