About The Artist: Ted Davies

Davies was born in Queens and for many years had a large studio on 14th Street from which he could roam the city streets drawing inspiration for his work. He also lovingly restored and maintained a home in Sag Harbor. Another friend of Ted’s, Sag Harbor photographer Linda K. About The Medium: Woodcut

A relief process in which the image is cut in a block of wood with tools such as knives, goughers or chisels. The image is inked with a roller, paper is applied to the surface and the back is then rubbed by hand or with a rubbing tool, transferring the image to the paper.
